the doctors

Both doctors studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and did their internship at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. They specialized in plastic surgery at the Nippon Medical School and in cosmetic surgery and dermatology at the Jujin Hospital.

Dr. Okabe is well-known for her pioneer work in laser surgery and chemical peeling. Dr. du Cloo was the first to introduce Botox and sclerotherapy as cosmetic procedures in Japan. The two doctors make continuous efforts to provide optimal treatments integrating know-how currently available overseas and in Japan.

Dr. Yuri Okabe received her bachelor's degree from the French Department of Tokyo University for Foreign Studies and her master’s from the Department of General Linguistics of the University of Amsterdam, and worked as researcher for the Dutch government at the Frisian Department of the Free University of Amsterdam. She then graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Amsterdam and later obtained her Ph.D. in medicine from Tokyo Medical & Dental University for her research on pepsinogen testing for gastric cancer risk screening.

Dr. René du Cloo received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Amsterdam. He was the first non-native in possession of a Dutch medical license to pass the Japanese Medical Licensing Examination. He is an occupational health physician and a health and sports physician certified by the Japanese Medical Association and a Board Certified member of the Japan Society of Ningen Dock (roughly equivalent to “complete medical checkup”). He is in charge of organizing health checks for Japanese expatriates in the Netherlands.
